Real Techniques Starter Set Dupe from Superstore - Review!

Hi everyone :) I know it's been a long while since I've posted anything...Sorry for seriously being the worst blogger EVER! And I know you're probably all tired of hearing about sales at Superstore, but I had to post about the Real Techniques brush set DUPE that they have! (Apologies in advance for the not-so-good quality pictures!)

It's called Sal & Jo's 5 Piece Brush Set with Case. When I first saw it, it was being sold for $10.00. They've now reduced the price to only $4.94! (Which is pretty good, considering the Real Techniques Starter Set is around $20.00).

Anyway, since it was so cheap, I HAD to buy it! So here's a little review for you :)

Cheap makeup at Superstore!

Hi Everyone :)

I just wanted to make a quick post about some Joe Fresh makeup on clearance at Real Canadian Superstore. Sorry if most of my posts are about Superstore, but it just happens to be near my house and things are always on sale! LOL.

I haven't bought anything yet, but here's what I saw:

Some small palettes with eyeshadows, blush and lip glosses, only $2.94. (I'm most interested in these).
Some single eyeshadows from $0.94 to $1.94.
There's also some Nicole by OPI nail polishes for $5.94 on the left.

Random eye pencils, lip pencils and lipsticks ranging from $0.94 to $2.94.

Do you guys get clearance makeup at your Superstore?

Real Techniques Starter Set DUPE!

Hey, Everyone :)

So, I was at Real Canadian Superstore yesterday, and guess what I saw!!

Look familiar? LOL.
That's right, Superstore is selling a DUPE of the Real Techniques Starter Set, and it's only $10.00!
It even comes with the folding case!
Okay, so the bristles look more nylon than the taklon brushes of the real ones, but I think these are pretty cute. HOWEVER, I didn't actually buy these brushes since I feel I have enough (for now)...I just thought I'd let you all know it's out there!

Let me know if you've seen these and/or tried them out! Are they any good??!

Again, sorry I've not been posting as often as I should! My life has been a bit of a sh*tstorm lately, but hopefully everything will be back to normal soon :)

ANYWAY....I finally picked up some Real Techniques brushes at Walmart the other day! Yay! However, all they had was the Starter Set, which was kind of a bummer, but I thought I'd tell you what I think about it. I'm not sure if Walmart just sold out of the other sets (the Core Collection and Travel Essentials), or if they haven't been in stock yet. I also posted before about the brushes being sold at London Drugs, but the last time I went to London Drugs (about a week ago) they were sold out of all the sets!! Boourns.

Okay, now for what you came to read! What I think of these brushes :)

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Foiled (and a surprise dupe!)

I bought it at London Drugs, since they have a sale on right now. $3.99 for all Super Lustrous lipsticks and lip glosses. Woot.

Real Techniques Brushes in Canada Soon! (Updated Feb. 27, 2013)

Hey guys! This a super short, update post!

So you may have seen my previous post: Real Techniques Brushes in Canada Soon?

Well, today I went to my local Walmart and guess what they had?! Sorry to maybe get you excited, but they didn't have the Real Techniques brushes. BUT! They DID have the price tags for them in the cosmetics section!

$18.97  for the Core Collection and $18.97 for the Starter Set.
When these brushes will actually be in store, I don't know, but it's GOT to be soon!
There's also the possibility that they were in the store and just sold out THAT fast.

If I see the brushes in person, I'll let y'all know!

Real Techniques Brushes in Canada Soon?

Hey everyone!

I'm being bored on a holiday Monday, and when not wasting time on tumblr, I've been wasting time randomly searching things on the internet. One of those things was the Real Techniques makeup brushes, designed by one of my fave makeup artists Samantha Chapman (check out my other faves here), and are made by the same company that make EcoTools.

Anyway, I saw this one website claiming that Real Techniques will soon be available in Canada! At Walmart! Has anyone else heard this? Does anyone know if this is ACTUALLY true? And if so, is there a date, or will I have to go to Walmart everyday, now? lol.

A Short Note About Rimmel Foundation Shades (Clean Finish vs. Lasting Finish)

Who likes reasonably priced foundations? I do! (Actually, I like reasonably priced ANYTHING!)

Recently I realized that I needed more foundation, so I decided to try Rimmel's Clean Finish Foundation, which was on sale for only $4.99 at Shopper's Drug Mart last week!
Now the real reason for this post, is not necessarily a review, but just something I learned (that most of you probably already know...but for some reason this problem didn't even occur to me!).

Claire's Mini-Haul (Makeup and Other Stuff)

Hey everyone!

So today I went to the mall...yay! LOL. There was a clearance sale at Claire's, so I thought it would be fun to show you my mini-haul of products :)

I don't usually go into Claire's, since I feel like I'm a bit old for most of their stuff, but I do like to peek inside as I walk past it. For those who don't know, Claire's is an accessories store that sells mostly jewelry and trinkets, but they also have hats and scarves and things like that, as well as some makeup. Anyway, for some reason, today I decided to go in, and they had all "redline" items (A.K.A. items previously marked down in red pen) for 10 items for 10 dollars. This deal was for items originally priced at $11.50 or lower. For 10 bucks, I couldn't pass that up, even if I might not use half of the stuff.

Hey everyone!

Sorry I haven't been posting lately! I want to do some reviews, but I can't transfer any pictures from my camera on to my computer at the moment! It's SO annoying! But it's my fault...I got some of my memory card adapter stuck in my laptop's memory card reader! Until I get one of the following: a new memory card adapter, a new memory card reader, OR the cord that originally came with my camera so I can just hook it up to my computer, I can't really post any reviews for you..unless I take the pics with my old school cell phone (a LG voyager that I got in 2009), and nobody wants that. HOWEVER, I promise to get this camera issue fixed by the end of this weekend, even if I have to tear my house apart to find the missing cord!

Is it just me, or was anyone else SUPER confused about tumblr when they first signed up?
Silly me, I thought it was just for posting photos with funny captions. Yes, I realize I'm behind the times...

After checking it out, however, I would describe tumblr as a lazy man's blog that combines Twitter and Facebook, but without any privacy. But let's face it, if you're a blogger, or on Twitter or Facebook, you probably aren't too concerned with privacy.

Some interesting, but mostly stupid, Guinness World Records

Hi, anyone!

For Christmas one of my friends got me the Guinness World Records 2013 book. I love these sorts of books, but I haven't actually looked at a GWR book in about 7 years! So, being the nerd that I am, I pretty much went through the entire book as soon as I got it (which was a couple days before Christmas...the 21st, I think).

Everyone probably knows this already, but there are some really cool records in here, which is great, since when I think of world records being set, I associate it with the Olympics, or these other great events that give inspiration and motivation. However, there are also some of the most ridiculous/stupid/useless records in here too. So, I thought it would be fun to highlight some of them (and see if you guys agree with me).

Review: LightInTheBox.com Makeup Brushes (and many random side-notes)

Hey...you! How's life?
Here it is: my first product review. I chose to review some makeup brushes that I ordered from Light In the Box (LightInTheBox.com). This a website based in China, and ships from China! But some of their stuff is super cheap, so I decided to give them a try.

Also, before I go further with the review, I'm not sure if you guys know about it, but I've recently discovered this wonderful site called Ebates.ca (there's also an Ebates.com for you USA folks). Many of you probably already know about these types of sites, but I've apparently been living under a rock for several years... But anyway, for those who don't know, if you sign up with Ebates, there are several websites connected to them, and if you shop from their websites by going through Ebates FIRST, they give you a percentage back from your purchase. Different stores offer different percentages back. Examples: Sephora.ca offers 4 to 8% cash back, depending on the time of year. There's also amazon.ca and chapters.ca giving a percentage back on certain items. So...in trying unsuccessfully to make a long story short, LightInTheBox.com (or LITB, as I will call it from now on) gives 6% cash back by going through Ebates.ca, which is what led me to their site in the first place! Also, if you doubt the legitimacy of their site, Ebates has already sent me a cheque for a whopping $3.52! lol.
NOTE: there's many sites similar to Ebates (another okay one is GreatCanadianRebates.ca), so look around on the interwebz and see what you can find and which site has stores that best suit your needs.

So for my first-ish post I've decided to tell you what I think are some good blogs/Youtube channels, and maybe you can tell me yours so I can check them out!

Okay, to be honest, I really only check out makeup-related blogs. Is that a crime? It's not my fault! They've recently opened a Sephora in my city...TWO Sephoras, actually! I'm not sure if you've ever been in there, but...wow! It's really overwhelming and colourful and shiny and expensive! THEN, I decided to check out their website..and OMG, they have a sale section! So! after perusing and, yes, purchasing too! I have become slightly obsessed with makeup at the moment, even though I've never really worn any for most of my life. Just a little foundation and that was it. Seriously!

Now, after that ramble (get used to it, people!) I will tell you my top..6 beauty and makeup blogs. In order of amount of inspiration they've given me.

my RANDOM blog of RANDOMNESS!

Hi Everyone! Or should that be ANYONE? lol. Welcome to my blog :)
I've decided to start this random blog of randomness because..well...mostly because I've been checking out some other blogs recently, and it seems fun...and I'm bored at the moment.

So..right now I'm thinking that I'll post about things I like, such as puppies and candy and science, but I'll also do some reviews on purchases like makeup and other random things (hence, the "random blog of randomness").

To keep with the randomness theme of my first blog post EVER, I've decided to jazz it up with this picture of a tree. I was in Ipswich, Australia this summer visiting my BFFF (yes, 3 Fs...if you don't know what the extra F is for, I suggest you watch Pineapple Express) and she lived near a park with this super random, slightly deformed tree.
